Colourful Garbage

placeARTS Eco Echo Youth Collective are expanding our horizons. We have been getting requests to paint murals for other organisations who are involved with community based ecological work.We got our first outside mural project from Mrs. Nalini Shekar from Hasirudala for a new Waste Management center at Yeshwanthpur. They wanted people around that place to change their  perspective about the  waste management center and for the community to understand what is going on inside. So the concept of our mural was to show the process of garbage segregation that is happening in that center. We started from chalk drawings on the wall. After drawing outlines we started painting. It took 8 days to finish the mural.

The challenging part of this mural is the height of the wall and placements of characters and objects the composition. Choosing colour was also another difficult task we faced in mural.

Below are some of our learnings from this mural.

  • Simplifying the drawings
  • Team work
  • Scale and compositions

For us this was our first project outside our communities and we were happy with outcome of the final mural.
